Liane Zeitz, CELA*, has practiced for over thirty years in elder and disability law planning

Liane has operated a solo practice for over 25 years, initially in the Dedham/Norwood area and now in Waltham, MA. Prior to opening her solo practice, Liane worked in the elder law units of Greater Boston Legal Services and the Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts, Worcester, MA. Liane is certified as an elder law attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation, the only national organization accredited by the American Bar Association to certify attorneys in elder law. Massachusetts does not recognize legal specialties for certification.

Liane was selected to the Massachusetts Super Lawyers list from 2013 to 2015, and 2019-2022. She is an active member of the Massachusetts chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys where she served as a board member for many years and as co-chair of the Program Committee. She currently acts as co-chair of the Long Term Residents’ Rights Committee. Liane has also served as a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Women’s Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Norfolk County Bar Association. She served for several years as co-chair of the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Annual Elder and Disability Law Conference, as counsel to the guardianship program of Jewish Family Services of Worcester, Inc., and as a volunteer trainer and mentor for the Elder Law Project of the Women’s Bar Association.

Liane is a frequent presenter on Medicaid planning, nursing home residents’ rights, planning for incapacity, guardianship, and conservatorship issues. She participated in the Attorney General’s task forces on revision of the Massachusetts guardianship statute and promulgation of long-term care consumer protection regulations. Liane was also the chief counsel for the Short v. DPH case, litigation to enforce state compliance with federal law granting nursing home residents the right to a fair hearing prior to transfer or discharge.

Prior to law school, Liane worked as a caseworker at Mystic Valley Elder Services in Malden, MA. Ms. Zeitz is a graduate of Wesleyan University, cum laude with Honors, and Boston University School of Law.
